Learn to Swim and Water Safety

The 2023 program has now ended. Many thanks to Deloraine Primary School for making their pool available when the Council pool could not be used due to flood damage. Thanks also to the Meander Valley Council for a grant to help cover the running costs of the program, and to our instructors Paul and Margaret.
The program will next be run in early January 2024. More detail will be available her nearer that time.
The Learn to Swim & Water Safety program is normally run at the Deloraine Pool, however the pool is currently undergoing repairs of damage cause by the October floods and is unavailable for the 2023 program.
Description of the program
Each participant has one 30 minute lesson at the same time each day. Qualified instructors are employed to run these classes.
Children will be graded according to ability, not family group. It is hoped that children will be encouraged to work towards a swimming goal and so improve from year to year.
Children under the age of 5 cannot be enrolled.
It is advisable for parents/guardians to purchase rash vests. Boys need to wear a proper bathing costume, not shorts to the knee.
The Rotary Club of Deloraine has been running this program for over 30 years as a free community service for the children of the Deloraine and district areas. It is aimed at providing those children who cannot swim with the ability to save themselves and/or others.
