Learn to Swim and Water Safety
The 2020 program has now ended - the program will run again in January 2021.
This is a free program for children, funded in 2020 by the Rotary Club of Deloraine and the Meander Valley Council.
The Rotary Club of Deloraine has been running this program for over 30 years as a free community service for the children of the Deloraine and district areas. It is aimed at providing those children who cannot swim with the ability to save themselves and/or others.
Children will be graded according to ability, not family group. It is hoped that children will be encouraged to work towards a swimming goal and so improve from year to year.
Children under the age of 5 cannot be enrolled.
It is advisable for parents/guardians to purchase rash vests. Boys need to wear a proper bathing costume, not shorts to the knee.
Swimming program days run from 10:00am to 3:45pm with each class consisting of a 30 minute lesson. Qualified instructors are employed to run these classes.
